HVA Campus Ministries

We firmly believe that education and redemption go hand in hand at Highland View Academy. Our commitment is to provide students with a spiritual and distinctly Christian environment. Our campus ministry is guided by three core values: Worship in Unity, Biblical Brilliance, and Selfless Service. Through these principles, we strive to deepen students' relationship with Jesus and empower them to serve Him wholeheartedly.

Message from the Chaplain

Hello Friend!

I’m Pastor Elijah, the chaplain and campus ministries director at Highland View Academy. I often tell people I have one of the best jobs on campus! Nothing brings me greater joy than seeing students grow in their relationship with Jesus. I have the great honor and privilege of working with our exemplary staff and students to create programs and activities that are biblically based and spiritually focused. I believe that there is no greater joy than pursuing Christ. If you are a student at HVA my goal is to help you along your spiritual Journey to the celestial kingdom. My unwavering mission is to ignite the flame of faith within Gen-Z, empowering you to pursue Jesus passionately and to become an influential leader for our time.

Core Values

WORSHIP IN UNITY

At HVA, we believe that collective worship brings a greater sense of community and togetherness. Our students participate in daily and weekly worship activities, designed to foster a spirit of unity and shared purpose. As Scripture reminds us in Matthew 18:20, 'For where two or three are gathered in my name, there I am among them.' In our collective worship, students and staff come together to create a God-centered environment, where we experience the presence of Jesus and inspire one another to grow in faith.

BIBLICAL BRILLIANCE

All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness” (2 Timothy 3:16). Through Bible classes, Sabbath schools, devotionals, and sermons, our students gain a rich and in-depth understanding of Scripture. Biblical exposition is an essential part of spiritual growth, and by providing biblically-based activities, we nurture our students to become discerning thinkers and Bible scholars.

SELFLESS SERVICE

At HVA, we are making a difference in our local, domestic, and international communities through compassionate and selfless service. As Mark 10:45 reminds us, 'For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.' We work and serve others because Christ has called us to follow His example. Our students need to understand what it means to be the hands and feet of Jesus and to be trained as missionaries for His Kingdom. All service at HVA is centered around the Christ Method, which is beautifully summarized in the Ministry of Healing (pg. 73): 'The Savior mingled with people as one who desired their good. He showed sympathy for them, ministered to their needs, and won their confidence. Then He invited them, "Follow Me".'

Worship in Unity

"True reverence for God is inspired by a sense of His infinite greatness and a realization of His presence. With this sense of the Unseen the heart of every child should be deeply impressed. The hour and place of prayer and the services of public worship the child should be taught to regard as sacred because God is there. And as reverence is manifested in attitude and demeanor, the feeling that inspires it will be deepened."

Biblical Brilliance

"What book can compare with the Bible? An understanding of its teachings is essential for every child and youth, and for those of mature age; for it is the word of God, given to guide the human family to heaven. In the world today there are gods many and doctrines many. Without an understanding of the Scriptures it is impossible for the youth to understand what is truth, or to discern between the sacred and the common."

A CALL TO STAND APART, p. 68

"Whoever will prayerfully study the Bible, desiring to know the truth, that he may obey it, will receive divine enlightenment. He will understand the Scriptures."

Selfless Service

"Our Lord and Master designs that not one thread of selfishness shall be woven into His work. Into our efforts we are to bring the tact and skill, the exactitude and wisdom, that the God of perfection required of the builders of the earthly tabernacle; yet in all our labors we are to remember that the greatest talents or the most splendid services are acceptable only when self is laid upon the altar, a living, consuming sacrifice."
